The Hungarian production unit of Audi AG opened a new logistics centre in Gyёr on 7 October 2020. It houses the largest rooftop solar power plant in Europe. Alfons Dintner, CEO of Audi Hungaria, called the project a symbol of the company's commitment to sustainable development. A solar power plant of such magnitude is a functional, efficient system. The largest rooftop solar power plant in Europe is expected to generate 9.5-gigawatt-hours per year. This amount of electricity is enough to fully power 3800 average households. For contrast: a fossil fuel power plant of the same capacity emits 4,900 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere per year.
